Metcore International Pte Ltd's Bunker Industry Forum on Market Outlook to Enhance Competitive Edge was held on 16th February 2023 at M Hotel Singapore. It went well with the support of our industry colleagues and friends.
Metcore's Analytics Engineer, Mr Tan Ting Jun started off the forum by sharing an informative session about enhancing trust in mass flow metering (MFM) systems and how a certified continuous monitoring program for post-certified systems can ensure competency and system integrity.
This was followed by Metcore's Quality Engineer, Mr Daryl Lim who elaborated on the relevant standards for bunkering industry. He shared that on 1 December 2022, Metcore has received accreditation from the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) as a certification assessment body. The newly attained status allows Metcore to provide certification of a mass flow metering system (MFM system) under its very own certification scheme for MFM system under ISO/IEC 17065:2012 Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, process and services. The certification scheme encompasses the testing and certification of a MFM system in conformity with the requirements of relevant standards, including ISO 22192:2021 – Bunkering of marine fuel using the Coriolis mass flow meter (MFM) system, SS 648:2019 – Code of practice for bunker mass flow metering and OIML R117:2019 – Dynamic measuring systems for liquids other than water.
Mr Simon Neo from SDE International shared his views on the future of bunkering industry. His vast experience enlightened our guests about the market outlook and how the bunkering stakeholders can collaborate to overcome the challenges faced in the digitalisation and decarbonisation of the shipping sector.
Guests at the forum were honoured to learn valuable insights from the bunkering industry veterans in the Panel Discussion including the Moderator Mr Douglas Raitt (Regional Advisory Services Manager, Lloyd's Register) and Panel Members consisting of Capt. Rahul Choudhuri (Chairman of Singapore Technical Committee for Bunkering under the Standards Development Organization SDO@SCIC 2022-2024 and Managing Director of VPS in Asia, Middle East and Africa), Mr Seah Khen Hee (Industry Expert in Bunkering), Mr Choong Sheen Mao (Director of Equatorial Marine Fuel) and Mr Simon Neo (Industry Expert in Bunkering, SDE International) and Mr Darrick Pang (Managing Director, Metcore).
Forum guests including Mr Elfian from Intertanko provided good feedback, especially so for the panel discussion whereby they indicated they enjoyed and benefited from the robust discussions about the market outlook and enhancing competitive edge in the bunkering industry.
